SUMMARY:Die-In for Democracy: Protect Our Rural Healthcare
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar! During the August congressional recess\, Lenawee Indivisible will stage a Die-In for Democracy to highlight Representative Tim Walberg’s vote for the Big Bogus Bill—a policy that threatens access to healthcare in rural communities like ours. \nThis dramatic\, peaceful protest will draw attention to the real\, life-and-death consequences of this bill and how it harms Lenawee County’s already limited healthcare options. \nWhat to Expect\n\nA powerful\, nonviolent demonstration symbolizing the bill’s deadly effects.\nOpportunities to educate our neighbors about what’s at stake.\nCreative elements like “tombstone” props and signs.\n\nHow You Can Help\nWe’ll need volunteers\, planners\, and creative energy to bring this event to life. Come to our August 7 Monthly Gathering to be part of the planning.

SUMMARY:Rise and Rock: Paint the Town with Power Event in Trenton
DESCRIPTION:Join Indivisible: Downriver United 734 for an afternoon of action\, art\, and community power as we literally paint the town with messages of hope\, resistance\, and grassroots strength. \nThis celebration is part of Indivisible’s One Million Rising campaign and Fight the Trump Takeover National Day of Action— and we’re giving it a uniquely Downriver twist. \nWhat to Expect:\n\n🪨 Rock Painting Station – Paint messages of unity and drop them across Downriver using our interactive Rock Drop Map\n🎤 Guest Speakers – Hear from Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson and Assistant Secretary of State Aghogho Edevbie about how we rise and organize right here at home\n🌮 Galindo’s Taco Truck – Come hungry\, leave happy\n💐 Mums for the Movement – Support our fall fundraiser with vibrant autumn flowers\n📸 Photo Booth – Snap pics with protest props & IG-worthy signs\n🧒 Kids Rock Zone – Crafts\, chalk\, bubbles\, and creative fun for little ones\n🎟️ Raffles & Rock Prizes – DU734 swag\, local treats\, and hidden “golden rocks”\n🪧 Visibility Protest on West Rd – Grab a sign and raise your voice\n\nThis isn’t just a rally—it’s a grassroots-powered\, community-fueled block party to remind the world: \n✨ We rise together. We resist with joy. And Downriver doesn’t back down. ✨ \n📍 Be there. Paint a rock. Make your mark. \nAbout This Day of Action\nThe Texas House Democrats are denying quorum to stop the Trump takeover of Texas and block his attempt to rig the 2026 midterm elections. But Trump isn’t stopping in Texas. He’s targeting Missouri\, Ohio\, Florida\, and every state he can twist to help him steal Congress next year. States like California and New York are starting to fight back. \nLet’s be clear: this fight started in Texas\, but it doesn’t end there. This isn’t just about redistricting or one state’s politics. It’s about the future of our democracy. Trump is terrified of the American people. He knows he can’t win on his ideas\, so he’s trying to take Congress by hook or by crook–and he’s doing it by silencing the voices of communities of color. We’re not going to let that happen. \nThat’s why we’re organizing this National Day of Action\, on Saturday\, August 16\, to fight back against the Trump takeover of our country. \nTexas will lead with an anchor rally at the Capitol in Austin. Across the country\, we’re asking people to show up at their state houses\, city halls\, or community spaces and make it clear — we see what Trump is doing\, and we won’t stand for it. \nPlease note: A core principle behind our Fight the Trump Takeover actions is a commitment to nonviolence in all we do. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.

SUMMARY:Lenawee Indivisible in the Lenawee County Fair Parade
DESCRIPTION:Lenawee Indivisible is marching in the biggest parade of the year—and we need YOU with us. \nWe were 700+ strong at No Kings—now let’s be the biggest and boldest group in the Lenawee County Fair Parade. \nThis is a joyful\, high-visibility way to spread our message\, have fun\, and let folks know: if you believe in liberty and justice for all\, you’re not alone. \nWhether you walk\, ride\, wave\, decorate\, or donate candy\, you’re part of what makes this happen! \n\n🙌 How You Can Help\n\nWalk or ride the parade route and hand out candy and flower seeds\nRecruit friends\, family\, and neighbors to walk with us!\nVolunteer to decorate our float on Sunday morning\nDonate wrapped candy for the crowd\nDrive your truck + trailer in the parade\n\nURGENT: Do you have access to a large-capacity vehicle (truck + trailer)? This is our biggest need—many participants can’t walk the whole route. One LI member has offered a Mustang convertible for the parade\, but a truck and trailer would make a huge difference! \n✅ One of our amazing volunteers has offered their truck and trailer for the parade. We’re so thankful for this generous support! \n\n📬 Can You Help?\nIf you can lend a hand in any way—walking\, decorating\, driving\, recruiting\, or donating—please contact us ASAP at lenaweeind@gmail.com or via Facebook Messenger. \nAs soon as we hear from you\, we’ll share more details:✔️ Where to meet✔️ Signage and decoration plans✔️ How to safely hand out candy and flower seeds✔️ Indivisible’s approach to community organizing \nWe are joyful\, nonviolent\, and united by our love of country. That spirit is at the heart of everything we do. \n\n👕 What to Wear:\n\nRed\, white\, and blue\nLenawee Indivisible T-shirts\nPatriotic or military garb\n\n\n🕘 Schedule:\n\n9:30 a.m. – Meet nearby to decorate\nDrive to lineup spot (on College or Michigan Avenues)\nBreak (bathroom/snack)\n12:45 p.m. – Walkers join the group\n1:00 p.m. – Parade begins\n~2:15 p.m. – End at the Fairgrounds(Get pre-arranged rides back to the staging area)\n\nParade route starts at Thee Old Mill on College Ave → proceeds down E. Maumee → ends at the Fairgrounds entrance on E. Dean St. Although GPS says it’s a 35-minute walk\, parades move sloooowly. \n\n📌 Important Notes from the Parade Organizers:\n\nNo pre-registration required to walk—just show up!\nWalkers must keep moving—no stopping to perform or chat\nNo candy throwing—handouts must be given curbside by walkers\n\n \n\n💬 Why Visibility Matters:\n\nMany people feel uneasy about the country’s direction—and are looking for a way to get involved. This is our chance to show them we’re joyful\, organized\, and patriotic.\nOur pro-democracy message appeals across party lines and matches this year’s fair theme: “Stars\, Stripes\, and Summer Nights.”\nIndivisible gets results—from 700+ here in Lenawee to 5 million nationally during No Kings!\n\nWhen people see our joyful\, united crowd standing up for democracy\, they’ll remember. Let’s be that crowd! \n\n📬 Questions\, Suggestions\, or Want to Lend a Hand?\nIf you can help in any way\, please email us at lenaweeind@gmail.com or use FB messenger ASAP. Thanks for everything you do to defend democracy and live our shared values!

SUMMARY:NO KINGS Demonstration in Adrian
DESCRIPTION:Join us on June 14—Flag Day and the 250th anniversary of the U.S. military—as we stand together to say: \nNO KINGS in America!\nOur demonstration will call out the authoritarian actions of Donald Trump and honor the sacrifices of veterans who fought to protect our democracy. They stood up to ensure this country remains a government of the people\, by the people\, for the people—not a monarchy. \nBy being brave now\, we can keep America free for generations to come. \nWhat to Expect:\n🎤 Veterans and local speakers🎶 Inspiring music🇺🇸 American flags everywhere✊ Hundreds of voices\, one powerful message:  \nNO THRONES. NO CROWNS. NO KINGS. \nLet’s wear red\, white\, and blue—and reclaim the flag for democracy. \n\nProtest Sign Ideas\nBring a sign that highlights an important local issue. Here are a few ideas: \n\nSupport our veterans\nNo kings (tyranny)\nSave Medicaid & Medicare\nSave SNAP/Meals on Wheels\nTariffs hurt small businesses\nSupport public schools\nHelp our farmers\nProtect reproductive rights\nEthical immigration reform\n\nAvoid any signs that could be construed as supporting violence. \n\nWhy We’re Here\nA key goal of this demonstration is to grow our movement in Lenawee County. Many in our community may have supported Trump in the past—but they might not realize what his administration is actually doing. \nLet’s raise awareness\, break through the noise\, and help our neighbors see the truth. Together\, we can make a difference. \n\nImportant Notes on Safety\nA core principle of all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to help de-escalate any potential confrontations and to act lawfully at all times. Weapons of any kind are not allowed at No Kings events. \nPlease follow all traffic and parking laws. Do not block sidewalks\, driveways\, or streets\, and avoid standing close to the curb. \nDress appropriately for the weather\, and bring water if it’s hot—we want everyone to stay safe and comfortable. \nIf questions or concerns arise during the action\, please check in with a rally marshal.
