SUMMARY:May Day Rally at the Old Lenawee County Courthouse
DESCRIPTION:This May Day\, we celebrate workers and the labor movement.\nJoin Lenawee Indivisible for music\, chants\, speeches\, giveaways\, and action. #WorkersOverBillionaires \n\nWhere: Old Lenawee County Courthouse\, Adrian\, MI\nDate: Friday\, May 1\, 2025\nTime: 4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.\, Friday\, May 1\, 2026\n\nRegister here: https://www.mobilize.us/mobilize/event/940856/ \n\nNationwide Demonstration\nThis event is part of a coordinated national day of action. Here’s how you can participate: \n\nNo school or work — If you can’t call out\, talk about it. Amplify the conversation about how this administration has made life harder for middle- and lower-class people.\nNo shopping — This is essential. A national strike will only succeed if significant numbers of us commit. Think of this as a test run before launching a full national strike!\nAttend this rally — Join us at the Old Lenawee County Courthouse and show up for your community.\nDonate to workers — See the “Donate” section below for ways to support migrant workers in our area.\n\n\nOur Demands\n\nPeople Over Billionaires / Tax the Rich: Our families\, not their fortunes\, come first.\nICE Out: No secret army serving authoritarian power.\nExpand democracy\, not corporate power: Defend free and fair elections\, not a rigged disaster.\n\n\nDonate to Support Workers in Our Community\nAt this year’s May Day Rally\, we will be collecting donations for migrant workers in Lenawee County. These workers — many of whom hold H-2A temporary agricultural visas — are facing serious financial hardship. The federal government has proposed lowering their minimum wage by as much as $4.50 an hour. That’s a cut of roughly 25% for the people who do grueling\, essential work that keeps our region’s farms running. \nThe Southeast Michigan Migrant Council has provided the following list of the most-needed items. We invite you to give what you can — even a single donation goes a long way toward supporting these workers and their families. Please ensure that donated items are new and unused. \nHygiene Supplies  \n\nShampoo\nBody Wash\nSoaps & Hand Sanitizers\nRazors\nDeodorants\nFace/Hand Wipes\nBaby Powder\nAloe Vera Gel\nShaving Cream\nToothbrush\nToothpaste\nDental Floss\nAlamactin Cream\nFoot Powder\n\nGeneral Supplies \n\nHats (Boonie\, Ball cap\, Stocking\, Straw\, Headbands)\nGloves\nShirts (Long Sleeve\, Flannels\, Hoodies\, Sweat-Absorbing)\nPants – Jeans\, Sweats\, Utility (M 28–34w\, 28–32l; W petite–10)\nSocks (Long & Short)\nCoats & Jackets (Winter\, Spring/Fall\, Windbreakers)\nCompression Sleeves\nBandanas\nWater Bottles/Mugs/Tumblers (no glass)\nThermals\nLunch Boxes\nLaundry Baskets & Bags\n\nKitchen\, Cooking & Household Supplies \n\nMolcajete\nTortilla Baskets\nAluminum Foil\nFood Storage Bags (Ziplock\, Sandwich)\nCooking Utensils\nDish Soap\nLaundry Detergent\nSponges\nDish Cloths/Wash Cloths\n\nAll donations will be distributed through the Southeast Michigan Migrant Council. Stop by our table at the rally for a list of suggested businesses to visit! \n\nA core principle behind all Lenawee Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation and to act lawfully.
