Lenawee Indivisible is looking for a few more volunteers to serve as rally marshals at our upcoming “No Kings” event. We already have 3 people signed up, but we’re aiming for at least 4 more. Whether you’re experienced or brand new, we’d love to have you join the team. Training will be provided.
Marshals play a vital role in making marches and demonstrations safe, effective, and inclusive. These roles have long been used across many movements and are shaped by each group’s values, security needs, and organizing culture.
At a rally or march, marshals help:
- Facilitate the action as planned
- Act as an information source for both organizers and demonstrators
- Help participants feel safe, supported, and empowered
- Serve as a buffer between demonstrators and police, hecklers, or bystanders
- Communicate any major issues—such as medical emergencies or interactions with law enforcement—to a Head Marshal
In short, marshals help make sure our voices are heard without distraction, and that our message comes through clearly and powerfully.
Whether you’ve done this before or are just curious about donning a yellow vest and learning more, now’s the time to step up. Reach out to Sarah at saelkt@gmail.com to sign up or ask questions.
