This December, Lenawee Indivisible members leaned into the spirit of giving to support our neighbors. As part of our Holiday Gift Drive, Indivisible members teamed up to provide presents for four immigrant families in the community

While every family member received several thoughtfully chosen gifts, this drive wasn’t just about presents and bows. It was about showing solidarity and support at a time when many families face heightened fear and uncertainty.

As one member put it: “We do the shopping, and they get to stay home safe.”

Community Partnership at the Heart of the Effort

We were proud to partner with Rudy Flores, Co-Chair of the Southeast Migrant Resource Council, whose guidance helped ensure this effort was both respectful and impactful. We also extend heartfelt thanks to Ada Rodriguez, Outreach Coordinator at the Community Action Agency (CAA) in Adrian, whose support helped make the gift presentation possible.

The gifts were presented to families on Friday, December 19, at the CAA.

While we are sharing photos of the donated gifts and organizers, we are intentionally not sharing photos of the families themselves, out of respect for their privacy.

Rudy shared that beyond the physical gifts, one of the most meaningful contributions Lenawee Indivisible members made was something harder to wrap:

Families knowing they are seen, cared for, and supported by their community.

That sentiment captures the heart of this project.

What Made This Possible

This effort succeeded because Lenawee Indivisible members showed up for their neighbors with generosity and flexibility. Members shopped individually or teamed up with friends, others contributed funds so no one was left out, and leadership helped fill gaps as needs arose.

Together, we ensured that every family was fully supported—thoughtfully, respectfully, and with care.

Our Heartfelt Gratitude

We are incredibly grateful to:

  • Every Lenawee Indivisible member who donated gifts, funds, time, or energy.
  • Rudy Flores at the Southeast Migrant Resource Council for his partnership and trust.
  • Ada Rodriguez at the Community Action Agency in Adrian for her coordination and support.

Together, we turned collective care into tangible action.

Thank you for being the kind of community that shows up—not just in words, but in meaningful, concrete ways. 💛
